Read

I LOVE to read. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t pouring over books – starting way back with the Berenstein Bears and then on to the Boxcar Children, the Babysitters Club, and Sweet Valley High.  As a child, I would always get in trouble for staying up late and reading a book by the faint glow emitted from the lowest setting of my bedside lamp.

I try to be a well rounded reader…mixing old with new, young adult with books way out of my league, nonfiction and fiction.  And so, now you know about my love affair with books.  As such, I occasionally post book reviews on the blog.  You can also find me on goodreads if you want to share your love of books!  Any suggestions for me?

7 Comments to “Read”

  1. I have the exact same goal for 2011!!! To read 1 new book a month! How funny! Oh my gosh, The Other Boleyn Girl was absolutely amazing! Have you heard of “Wolf Hall”? It’s based on the same story but from a different perspective. My parents both loved it and it’s on my nightstand for reading!

  2. I love this idea. I have a “Dusty Pages” tab on my blog where I list what I have read, and am reading, but not really my thoughts. I need to update it more often.

I am currently involved in three book clubs, so they always provide new reading material.

    My top 3 books:

    1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
    2. The Help by Kathryn Stockett
    3. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

I read Sarah’s Key last summer and loved it (if you can love a book like that..) I then read Those Who Save Us, also about WWII and it was amazing also. I would definitely recommend it.

    (found you on FTLOB)

  3. I also have “The Book Thief” on my to-read list! I can’t wait to read it! Right now I’m reading “Shanghai Girls” and it is AWESOME! Next up is “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, “The Art of Racing in the Rain”, and “The Help” (even though I already read it, I feel like it’s a really good summer read. :)

  4. wonderful post! I need to do one of these!! Love the yearly summary…. Nerd moment :)

  5. Have you read Ken Follett’s “The Pillars of the Earth”? If not, I HIGHLY recommend it! I couldn’t put it down and couldn’t wait to get home from work just to read it! :)
